Green Beans

Green beans seasoned with black musturd seeds.

Ingredients:
Green Beans - 3 cups (cut into 3 inch pieces)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Garlic - 1 clove, sliced
Red chili - 1

Method:
  • Place beans in a microwave safe dish and sprinkle 2-3 tbsp water. Microwave for 2-3 minutes and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add red chili, mustard seeds and garlic.
  • When the seeds begin to splutter turn the heat off. Pour this hot oil over the beans and toss.
  • Add salt and serve.

Notes:

  1. If you prefer crisp texture, use blanched green beans instead of cooking the beans in the microwave.
  2. If you are using frozen beans, add the beans directly to the pan after the mustard begins to splutter instead of using microwave. Toss the beans and cook covered on low heat for 1-2 minutes.
