Goan Fry - Crab, fish or Vegs



Very simple Goan way of cooking crab. You can fry fish in a similar way. If you are a vegetarian, try frying various vegetables using this method. Refer below for vegetables you can fry.



Ingredients:
4-5 Small Crabs cleaned and cut in 2 halves (shell and legs off)
1 tsp - Turmeric powder
2 tsp - Chili powder
1/2 tsp - garlic ginger paste (Optional)
Salt to taste
3 to 4 tbsp - Semolina (Rava) to coat the crabs
Oil - 2 to 4 tbsp

Method:

  • Mix Chili, turmeric powder and salt with a little water to make a thick paste. Add garlic ginger paste as well.
  • Roll the crab pieces in the paste and keep aside for at least 30 mins.
  • Heat a pan and add some oil.
  • Roll the marinated crabs in the semolina and place on the pan.
  • Keep turning after every 2 minutes, adding little oil each time and fry on medium heat for 5-6 minutes.
  • Let it rest for a minute and serve.
The Vegs:
Skip the garlic-ginger paste and no marination required. You can apply the paste to the vegs, roll them in semolina and fry right away. You can use cauliflower, okra, potato, onion, raw banana, eggplant, mushroom or any other vegetable of your choice. I have tried all these and today I also tried frying bottle gourd.
