Chicken Currypatta





Yet another easy chicken recipe. Serve with dal and rice.








Ingredients:
Chicken pieces – 2 bone in breast pieces cut into bite size pieces.

Garlic – finely chopped – ½ cup
Ginger – finely chopped – ½ cup
Green chilies – 6-8
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Jeera powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala (cloves, cinnamon, cardamom) – ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Yogurt – 1/4 cup

For Seasoning:
Oil – 2 tbsp
Jeera – ½ tsp
Red chilies – 1-2
Curry leaves – 15 to 20


Method:
  • Clean chicken pieces and add all the ingredients except the seasoning ingredients. Keep aside for about an hour.
  • Heat oil in the pressure cooker and add jeera, red chilies and half of the curry leaves. Add marinated chicken. Keep stirring occasionally for about 5 mins on high heat till the chicken pieces start to brown a bit.
  • Add 1/2 cup water and pressure cook for up to 2 whistles. Once cool, open the lid and add remaining curry leaves and cook till most of the water evaporates.


Note:
Reduce green chilies and ginger if you want less heat.
