Steamed Halibut





Healthy and Tasty steamed Halibut. Serve with steamed or fried rice or steamed vegetables.





Ingredients:
Halibut Fillet - 1 (6 oz)

Red Bell Pepper - 1/2, cut lengthwise
Shallots- 2, sliced
Ginger - 1 tsp, julienned
Garlic - 3 cloves, sliced
Lime zest - 1/4 tsp - optional

Salt to taste

Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
Soy sauce - 1 tbsp
Lime juice - 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp , toasted and powdered

Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
Red chilies - 1 or 2
Spring Onion/Green onion - 4

Method:
  • Clean and pat dry the fillet and cut into big pieces. Place on a shallow platter and sprinkle salt, pepper, turmeric and fennel powders.
  • Add layers of shallots, ginger, garlic, lime zest and red bell peppers.
  • Drizzle oil, lime juice and soy sauce.
  • Place a wire rack/stand in a large pan (big enough to hold the platter) and add about 1 inch of water. Bring the water to boil. Place the platter on the wire rack and cover to steam the fish for about 3-4 mins.
  • Remove the platter from the pan and set aside. Be careful not to spill the juices. Garnish with green onions.
  • Heat 1 tbsp veg oil in a small pan. Once the oil is very hot, add red chilies and pour this red chili infused hot oil over the green onions on the fish platter and serve immediately.
